Endwell, NY – Visions Federal Credit Union recently celebrated the grand openings of two high school offices in New York's Southern Tier. Student interns, school leadership, and Visions staff attended each location's ribbon cutting ceremony, which streamed to audiences on Facebook Live.
The two new offices, located inside Binghamton High School and Newark Valley Senior High School, are open for students and faculty, and provide educational opportunities in addition to basic banking services. "These schools represent a large part of our commitment to these communities," said Senior Branch Manager Richie Mathers, who oversees the high school operations. "By introducing financial literacy at a young age and creating job opportunities to help students gain practical experience, we're investing in economic wellness and a brighter future for local towns and cities."
Visions hires high school students to staff the in-school branches, where the students benefit from work-based learning and receive guidance from teachers and supervisors. At the ribbon cutting ceremony, Visions' Public Relations and Community Engagement Manager Tim Strong spoke about the opportunities provided by the internships. "The students get the full experience, from a real interview to a real paycheck, which is real nice. I wish it was around when I was in high school!"
With the addition of these new facilities, Visions now has a total of ten high school branches across its footprint in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
