Reading, PA – Beginning this year, Visions Federal Credit Union is pledging $90,000 to the Centro Hispano Daniel Torres Hispanic Center in support of their current initiative to provide the predominantly Hispanic community in and surrounding Reading, PA with Latino public radio. This $90k donation takes place over the next three years with $30k per year divided between event sponsorship offsetting program costs; relocating and renovating their newly acquired radio station; and launching the station’s first underwriting studio sponsorship.
Centro Hispano Daniel Torres was founded 60 years ago in Reading, PA to create a support system for the city’s rising Puerto Rican immigrant population. Now in 2026, many Latin American immigrant communities call Reading home – with larger percentages of Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican, and Haitian residents. Centro Hispano welcomes each and every one of these communities, providing a diverse swath of personal relief resources and referrals to whomever needs them – including, but not limited to, translation services, immigration services, social worker assistance, meal preparation and distribution, general legal guidance, and much more.
Visions has been working with Centro Hispano for several years, even having Michael Toledo, the CEO of Centro Hispano since 2010, serving on their Pennsylvania Advisory Board. From a $25,000 donation in 2023 during their annual Amigo Award Gala, to offering everyday financial wellness counseling and guidance through Centro Hispano, Visions has consistently aligned themselves with Centro Hispano’s mission to improve the quality of life for Reading’s Latin American populace.

The radio tower, recently acquired from Albright College, proposes to be a cultural cornerstone for the area – providing a mix of different entertainment features. Creating a space to broadcast Latino music is just the beginning for the station, as Centro Hispano also aims to incorporate talk show elements offering resources, cultural updates, and, with Visions’ team members, even financial discussion and education.
