Endwell, NY – On Wednesday, May 6th, the exact date of their 60th anniversary, Visions Federal Credit Union leadership hosted a press conference featuring multiple New York State elected officials and their representatives, all coming together to celebrate the cooperative’s momentous 60-year success story. This press conference also served to announce several upcoming celebration efforts set to take place over the rest of the year.

Mandy DeHate, Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, opened the conference by giving a brief overview of Visions as it stands today, with more than 250,000 members spread throughout all 50 states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin islands, and 46 countries; 61 branches in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania combined; and 15 million dollars invested into local communities since 2013 alone. From its inception in 1966 as the IBM Endicott Employees Federal Credit Union, to it’s present-day run as Visions Federal Credit Union, “This significant milestone is a testament to the credit union’s long-standing commitment to our core values of service, integrity, community, and trust,” says DeHate.

Visions’ President/CEO Tyrone Muse spoke next, highlighting some key moments in the organization’s timeline. “This town has a lot of history to it, and we’re just so fortunate to be part of that history and even further build upon it on the shoulders of all those who came before us,” Muse details, recounting the 1981 IBM Endicott-Owego Employees Federal Credit Union merger, his appointment as President/CEO in 2013, the formalization of the Visions Cares community giveback program in 2017, and the quarter of a million membership milestone that was reached in 2023.

After thanking all of Visions’ members, employees, and volunteers for their dedication to the cooperative, Muse announced more celebrations to come in their honor. In addition to the current 12-Month Certificate Special announced last month, each branch will be receiving limited-edition 60th anniversary pens, and Friday night admission to Binghamton’s Spiedie Fest and Balloon Rally is free for all to attend, paid for in advance by Visions. Moreover, Visions members will receive exclusive half-off discounts for tickets to the Spiedie Fest’s Saturday and Sunday night concerts.

The festivities did not conclude there, as the most prominent announcement of the conference pertained to Visions $60K Giveaway sweepstakes. In commemoration of their 60th anniversary year, Visions plans to give away a total of $60,000 to their members, with 10 qualifying members each month being chosen at random to individually win one $1,000 prize – no purchase necessary. Complete details will be available on June 1 at visionsfcu.org/60Kgiveaway.

Other speakers included Visions Federal Credit Union Board of Directors Chairperson Chris Marion, calling attention to the employee-led initiatives towards volunteering and nonprofit donations, and to the investments made towards education with the Visions Loves Educators program and the growing number of branches being built into local high schools and universities alike. “Visions has both management and staff looking to run this organization in a way that maximizes how much they can give back, and that movement starts at the top with Ty and the culture he’s created.”

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar attested to this, adding that, “Great things happen when Visions puts their name and their commitment behind our community events and initiatives. 60 years is no small thing – around here, that kind of staying power means you’re doing right by your neighbors.”

Following Garnar and acting on behalf of New York State Senator Lea Webb and New York State Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, representatives Korin Kirk and Christina Fuller awarded Visions a joint resolution memorializing their practiced commitment towards enhancing the quality of life and financial wellbeing of their community members.

In her closing remarks, DeHate pledges Visions’ enduring devotion towards “…growing with purpose, supporting our communities, and honoring the cooperative principles that have guided us from the very beginning,” and assures that Visions staff, volunteers, and community partners alike all look forward to continuing this legacy for as long as their community members will have them.
